Postdoctoral Fellow — Microbial Metabolism & Multi-Omics
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work on longitudinal microbiome and metabolome data from the Framingham Heart Study, connecting microbial enzymes and metabolites to host cardiometabolic trajectories. The project suits someone who enjoys building methods and following them through to biological interpretation, with close access to experimental collaborators at MGH and the Broad.
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or a related field
- Strong programming in Python and/or R, and comfort on HPC or cloud infrastructure
- Experience with metagenomics, metabolomics, or mass spectrometry data analysis
- A track record of first-author work, and interest in mechanistic microbiology
Postdoctoral Fellow — Sepsis Multi-Omics
Supported by a Broad CISID New Investigator Award, this project asks whether the serum metabolome encodes sepsis sub-phenotypes that explain the field's persistent heterogeneity in treatment response. The work involves characterizing uncharacterized ("dark matter") metabolites and deconvoluting untargeted metabolomics into cell-type-specific pathways using single-cell transcriptional references.
- PhD in computational biology, machine learning, statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Experience with untargeted metabolomics, single-cell transcriptomics, or clinical cohort data
- Interest in interpretable models and clinical translation
- Ability to work closely with clinicians and experimentalists
Graduate & Rotation Students
Students in Harvard and MIT graduate programs are welcome to rotate with us. Projects can be fully computational or paired with wet-lab collaborators, depending on your interests. Please get in touch to discuss what is currently available.
- Enrolled in a Harvard, HMS, or MIT graduate program
- Background in computational biology, quantitative science, or microbiology
- Willingness to learn programming if you have not done much before
